Lora + Joe – Wedding

I have longed for the day when I could start a blog posting like this: Lora and Joe were married on a goat farm in North Carolina.

And also, I think I’ve broken my own record of longest blog posting in OLAS history.  Alas, I couldn’t help myself.  Every single detail of Lora and Joe’s wedding came straight out of an anthropologie/vintage/organic/pie-lovin’/foot-stompin’ dream.  From the amazing organic and local food to the glitter mou-staches (pronounced phonetically for effect), to the handwritten notes and place cards to the homemade pies and homemade drinks, this wedding is, quite simply, stunning.

Lora had the most amazing dress and hairpiece, her Maid of Honor’s dress was original and beautiful, and the tiny details are such magical little surprises found amidst a day full of family and friends, laughter and love.

Here are a BUNCH of our favorites.  We hope you love them as much as we do.  We have a, how do you say, love-at-first-site relationship with sweet Lora and Joe’s goat farm wedding.

It is well worth your time to check out the full slideshow (featuring some rocking tunes by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes) on our website!

So now I start with some of my favorite details.  Sweet pins and glitter sticks (GLITTER STICKS!!), a note from a dear friend on a bride’s most special day, some photo booth shots, and, of course, a farm scale and candy:

A goat.  And a picture of a bride that was also married on this goat farm, quite some years ago…

The beautiful bride, her something blue, a dress to make an appearance later in the eve, and some pretty wonderful pins:

We love these!  And we adore the look on her sweet maid of honor’s face.  Precious!

Vivid wildflowers just sang with color, and whatever those yummy raspberry drinks are next to them, I would like one.

Welcome to Joe and Lora’s porch.

Lora and Joe had incredible signs scattered throughout the farm, handmade from cloth, clothespins, and some string.  We LOVE.

Instead of programs, Lora and Joe had fans with programs printed on them.  And on the fans is a poem from a gent who is very near and dear to our own OLAS hearts:

i thank You God for most this amazing
day: for the leaping greenly spirits of trees
and a blue true dream of sky; and for everything
which is natural which is infinite which is yes

A fiddle, a guitar, and some I Do’s?  Yes, please!

I think it’s probably safe to say that Joe likes Lora more than the goat he’s holding.  But we couldn’t resist this adorable pic, and some amazing details from the bride and groom:

In the words of Rachel Zoe: I DIE.  This is by far one of my favorite OLAS shots EVER.

Oh!  And this one too!  (and that bus is half bus, half chicken coop).

And this one!  And you can really see Lora’s pretty hairpiece here, too:

Local, organic peanuts, ‘his’ and ‘hers’ cocktails, organic honey favors made by the bride.  I bet ee cummings would have been MORE than happy to attend this wedding.

There were so many things that Lora and Joe made a part of their wedding day that could transcend into their lives as husband and wife, such as a handmade cookbook for recipes from family and friends, a wedding poster for the signing, and badges for a pie contest later in the evening…

Eat, drink, and be married :)

And: PIE BAR.  Or a bar and pie.  Either one works for us.  Oh, and games too!

And: cute little fortunes found at each guest’s place setting.

That honestly is one of the most delicious and unique looking wedding cakes I have ever seen.  And it looks like that little one is ready to dig in too!

I love the personalized and handmade place settings, like “sweethearts” table.  They just add so much, and are so pretty!

And in case you can’t read the card, it says:

“Lucky in Love Pie Contest: Joe and Lora spent many of their first dates at a little place called the Pie Kitchen in Louisville, KY.  From chess to derby they fell in love over each sugary bite.  Help celebrate their marriage by baking a special pie in honor of all of life’s sweet moments!  If you like to bake pies, bring this recipe card, along with your homemade pie, to share with the guests at the reception.  Prizes for pie favorites to be given by the Bride & Groom.”

A table of fun: beautiful little pins, mou-staches, candy, and croquette!

Lora and Joe even had little place cards telling guests about the origin of their wine.  And pie and cake galore!

Hey Suga!  Put some jazz in your step, and, next time, bring your wife.

Joe: check.

A sweet blues/folk band, some foot-stompin’ and the awarding of the best pies!

Love and cowgirl boots:

Congratulations, Lora and Joe!!!  We feel so blessed that you allowed (once like a spark) to capture your beyond amazing day!  ee cummings, hopefully, would be proud of both of us :)
