Joanna + Brian – Wedding

You guys might all remember Joanna and Brian from their engagement session earlier this year. Joanna is a friend of Ashley and Cali’s from their hometown, and we hadn’t seen her since 2002! It was wonderful catching up during their e-session, and it was SUPER obvious that these two were waaayyyy in love. Like giddy, joyful, giggly love. After witnessing these two lovebirds at their engagement session, we couldn’t wait to shoot their wedding. Joanna and Brian are just such joyful, gracious, authentic people, and having the opportunity to document their wedding day was nothing short of a blessing. Here we go….
Joanna, her mother, and her bridesmaids (two of which were her sisters) were a bustle of giggles as they got ready in the bridal suite at the church. Joanna was as cool as a cucumber, and was giddy with excitement and laughter. She and her sister busted out a little piano tune (laughing the whole time!) until it was time for Jo to put on her dress. We loved the red flats Joanna wore under her dress. A girl’s gotta keep her feet comfy and stylish, right?
We love this moment with Joanna and her mother, right after Jo puts on her dress. Some powerful stuff.
It’s a flurry of activity, as everyone finishes with the last details. We love this shot of Joanna’s dad as he gets all pinned up.
We headed outside for portraits with the girls, and it was NOT hard to get this group to smile. They were all just SO happy – exactly the way a wedding party should be if you ask us.
And then it was the guys turn. Brian is a Captain, being promoted to Major, so he was in uniform for the big day, along with some of the groomsmen and ushers. Gotta love a groom in uniform!
Our BEAUTIFUL bride, who was just glowing……
…and the handsome groom.
The ceremony began, and as you’ve probably noticed already, Joanna is expressive. I think we’ve mentioned this before, but watching bride’s expressions as they head down the aisle toward the groom is really one of the many privileges of our jobs. We loved this first shot of Joanna – I feel like you can hear as she takes a deep breath looking down the aisle towards Brian.
After the ceremony, some of Brian’s Army friends set-up for the Arch of Sabres. At the bottom, they don’t let the bride and groom through without a kiss. It’s also tradition that one of the guys will pop the bride on her backside as she passes through. I think it was a little harder than Joanna expected, and we LOVE this last shot of her passing through.
Couples portraits! The church were Joanna and Brian got married is located on one of the busiest streets in Atlanta, and these two sure got their fair share of cat calls and shouts of congratulations from passersby.
It’s time for the first dance, and have we mentioned how expressive Joanna is?
More reception shots….
As you can see, this reception was a crazy fun dance party and Joanna lead the way breaking it down on the dance floor.
Garter success! We love you Joanna and Brian, and wish you the best of luck in your new life in West Point!
