Sharon + Jason – Engagement
Over in (once like a spark) land, we occasionally get into giddy-giggling convos about just how lucky we are to be doing what we’re doing, who we’re doing it with, day after day. Often during these giggle sessions, we joke (except we’re not joking at all) about how so many of our clients are so cool that we want to call them after their weddings and ask if we can be bff’s. No, really. Sharon and Jason are just these type of people. Sharon knows OLAS owner Cali from back-in-the-day, and this couple is the perfect combo of hilariousness, sweetness, smartness…and just overall coolness. We’ve absolutely loved reading Sharon’s blog that describes all that is wedding planning – her authentic account of what it means to be a bride-to-be preparing for a lifetime with Jason is mixed with some hilarious wit , and we just love it. Sara, from our (once like a spark)*southeast team, met Sharon and Jason at Jittery Joe’s in Athens – perfect for this couple, and especially Sharon, who is a book lover. Check out their e-session below, and look out for their wedding photos in late summer!

Meet Elizabeth and Kevin. High school friends, separated by college and life and distance, who reunited when they both moved back to their hometown after graduation. They reconnected, started dating, fell in love…you know the rest.
It’s a love story many years in the making, and we were so excited that Roya Jade, our amazing Chicago photog, (www.chicago.oncelikeaspark.com) was there to capture their big day! Here are some of our favs…
We loved, loved , loved Elizabeth’s ballet flats, with a little bling of course.
Michaela + Dave – Wedding
We’ve all heard people say it before – When you know, you know. Enter stage left, Michaela and Dave. These engagement and marriage of these two lovebirds has been a long time coming, and we absolutely love their story. Michaela is Swedish and Dave is American, and they crossed paths one day over nine years ago in Copenhagen, Denmark. Michaela was 19 and on vacay for the weekend, and Dave was traveling for work. After meeting and spending just one day together, the next few months were filled with long international phone calls, and even a couple of last-minute cross Atlantic flights. Fast-forward nine years later. This whirlwind romance has remained just as exciting as it was when they first met, and these two have shared their lives together everywhere from Rwanda to India to NYC. Michaela has finally settled down in the US, and these two will be getting married in August of this year. Graham traveled from MA to NYC for their engagement shoots. We LOVE the amazing mix of nature, architecture, and just the raw moments of laughter that Graham captured during his time with these two. Best of luck, and we can’t wait to be a part of your big day next month!
Read MoreEmily + Scott – Wedding
(Preface: Let’s hope I don’t go as overboard with the text for this blog posting as I have with the pictures, or I’ll have a novel typed out before you know it!). Emily and Scott were married at the beautiful St. Simon’s lighthouse in May, and every bit of this wedding lived up to our expectations. Emily and Scott, who both went to UGA, have one of the best “how do you know each other” stories that we’ve ever heard – they were asked by the property management of the apartments they lived in to pose as models for some new marketing material. They didn’t know each other before this point, but they posed as a couple dancing around the neighborhood pool…who knew that before too long, they would be dancing around together on their wedding night! Emily and Scott’s St. Simon’s wedding was the embodiment of elegant simplicity, with beautiful blue, ivory and green accents to showcase the natural beauty of the seaside. The lighthouse was an amazing backdrop for their ceremony, and the bridal party and guests moved just a few short steps away to the Heritage Center to finish off the night with a great reception (one of the liveliest we’ve been to yet!). Congratulations Emily and Scott – we loved getting to know you, and your wedding was a blast!
All of us at OLAS knew that Emily was going to be a pistol well before we even met her – when we asked on our standard questionnaire if she is comfortable with the photographer moving around during the ceremony, she responded that she is, as long as the photographers don’t break out into choreographed song and dance! Hahah! Here she is with some of the girls getting ready:

LOVE this shot of Emily: We loooooove expressive clients, and Emily and Scott were definitely not lacking in the expression department, as evidenced by the two pictures below: We were blessed to have an abundance of time with Emily and Scott to capture their couple’s portraits, and as always, the extra time paid off. I definitely went a little overboard here, but I just couldn’t choose my favorites. Enjoy!Oaks and Spanish moss? Beautiful bride and groom? Yes please.
Congratulations Emily and Scott! We wish you all the best, and thanks for a great weekend! Read MoreElina + Kosta – Wedding
Get ready for this, friends of OLAS: this wedding of the beautiful Elina and Kosta comes straight to us from Mexico!! The couple chose a spectacular location for their destination wedding, and we are so glad they chose our super talented photographer Michael (http://california.oncelikeaspark.com) to capture their special day (and a few days surrounding their big day, too!).
Elina and Kosta were surrounded by their family and friends for days (and nights!) of celebration. We love how the whole event just seemed like a conglomeration of amazing food, wine, beaches, good conversation, some crazy dancing (wait until you see the second to last post!), and of course, a wedding! Michael did such a phenomenal job of capturing the emotion and intimacy of these incredibly special days. We hope you agree, and don’t forget to check out the whole slideshow at http://california.oncelikeaspark.com!
Isn’t Elina stunning? We love the orchid, and the exquisite “something blue” earrings:
A few shots of the bridesmaids looking beautiful and the groomsmen looking dashing, and a couple of Elina and Kosta seeing each other for the first time on their big day!:
We’re all about the color, don’t get us wrong, but sometimes a black and white photograph (or two) can be so so beautiful:Just look at that stunning backdrop for their beautiful wedding:
Probably one of the cutest kids we’ve ever seen:

Meet Julia and Jarrod. This precious pair started dating in college, when they both attended the University of Georgia. They’re both close friends of Ashley, (one of OLAS’ owners) and her husband was actually a groomsmen (look for the the really handsome one.) In just a few short weeks, a lot happened to this couple: Jarrod graduated from medical school, they got married, and they moved to Nashville, where they’re about to start their new life together!
Their wedding was a very intimate affair in the North Georgia Mountains at Glen Ella, where the entire wedding party stayed and celebrated this sweet couple with many nights of bonfires, good food, and friendship. The couple wanted a spring wedding, and we absolutely love the contrast of the blue sky, green grass, and the purple color scheme. Be sure to check out the full slideshow at http://oncelikeaspark.com!
We adore this one of Julia and her mom and dad. Isn’t it so precious?:
We love all of the amazing colors in these shots of Julia and her bridesmaids:
Isn’t it funny how incredibly different the guys getting ready is from the girls?:
