Alyssa + Shaun :: Wedding Part 2 :: Boston

Alright guys, get ready! Part 2 of Alyssa and Shaun’s Boston Wedding is here and the photos are creating some fierce competition for Part 1. If you haven’t yet checked out Part 1, do so and come back (you won’t be sorry you did!). One of the coolest things about Alyssa and Shaun getting married at the Commandant’s House in the Charlestown Navy Yard, was that they were given exclusive access to board the USS Constitution (baring any issues of National Security) <— love that. Obviously, Graham was there to capture their every step on board, and did he ever. We are seriously IN LOVE with these couples shots! Talk about breathtaking.

As if Alyssa and Shaun needed anything else to make their wedding absolutely spectacular after a few newlywed shots on the USS Constitution, their reception definitely didn’t disappoint. Complete with over 100 red and blue lobster lollipops functioning as place cards (which Alyssa made herself btw — our OLAS brides continually amaze us with their craftiness!), a true New England clambake, and a live band for a crazy fun post dinner party, I’d say that Alyssa and Shaun’s goal of creating a relaxed and fun-filled vibe for their reception guests was more than achieved.

There are about a million other great things we could tell you about this couple and their wedding day, but this last little detail is probably our favorite. You’ll notice below that there aren’t any photos of the bouquet toss… this isn’t because they decided to forgo the tradition altogether, but because they decided to do something incredibly special and meaningful for Alyssa’s parents. You see, her parents were celebrating their 39th wedding anniversary this exact weekend, and Alyssa and Shaun really wanted to make sure it didn’t get forgotten amongst all of their wedding celebrations. So, instead of tossing the bouquet, Alyssa took a moment out of their reception to present it to her mother and then she and Shaun shared a special dance with her parents for their anniversary. Love, love, LOVE this precious couple. Alyssa and Shaun, thank you for trusting us to capture these beloved memories – we couldn’t be more honored to have you as part of our OLAS family. x’s & o’s

Alyssa + Shaun :: Wedding Part 1 :: Boston

Hi OLAS lovelies!

It’s Emily, creative director for OLAS, and now – not only do I get to go through each and every gorgeous and amazing one of your photos, I get to blog about them too! Have I mentioned lately how much I LOVE my job? Well, I do!  Ashley and I will be tag-teaming it on blog posts from now on, so we can bring you more of what we all love – stunning, stunning, OLAS weddings!

This one is no exception, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to blog about Alyssa + Shaun’s Wedding at the Commandant’s House in the Charlestown Navy Yard in Boston, MA for my first post (one could call it my “maiden voyage”…) :) Look out for photos of the bride and groom on the USS Constitution in part 2!  Alyssa and Shaun admit that they are truly geeks at heart and were so excited to get married on such an historical location, and on the water to boot! They’ve also always loved the North End of Boston and have spent many a date night just wandering the streets and holding hands. This couple just can’t help but glow! Graham, our amazing Boston area photog, did such an incredible job capturing all of the sweet and candid moments from the day, and especially between these two love birds. They just couldn’t seem to stop kissing! Seriously – check out the kiss at the ceremony (before the first kiss) after her dad gives her away at the alter! We loved every second of it and know you will too.

Be on the look out for a true New England affair in part 2 of Alyssa and Shaun’s Wedding tomorrow, complete with photos on the USS Constitution and a true New England Clambake!

Janice + Nick::Wedding::Rhode Island

Today’s featured wedding is a cross-country affair – from sea to shining sea in fact! Our West Coast photographer extraordinaire, Tracy, left the beaches of San Diego and headed cross-country to the beaches of Rhode Island for Janice and Nick’s gorgeous seaside affair. These two lovebirds got married at Dunlap-Wheeler Park – right at the entrance of Easton’s Beach, and we loved the way they incorporated a relaxed, beachy feel into every part of their afternoon wedding – everything from a bride and groom in flip-flops to the pops of purples and greens. One of the things we loved the most about this venue, though, was the really wide variety of looks Tracy was able to get – even though they were right on the beach, Tracy was able to spend some really sweet time with Janice, Nick, and their bridal party at some super cool spots…doesn’t it look like they are in front of a castle?!   Mix in Janice’s AH-MAZING fiery red hair (girls, we know…amazing!!!!) and Tracy’s mad photography skills…and voila!!!!! Enjoy and leave Janice and Nick some love!

Lauren + Mike::Wedding::Part 2

OK, people, so we brought you Part 1 of Lauren + Mike’s beautiful garden wedding, and now we’re bringing you Part 2.  I’m warning you, this is about the longest Part 2 blog posting ever, but seriously, we couldn’t help it! We absolutely had to share all of these photos with you – we just couldn’t pick. For a recap, our crazy talented photographer Graham (usually based in New England) headed down to Athens, GA to shoot Lauren and Mike’s big day. Check out Part 1 if you missed it, then head back over here, because you are not going to want to miss these photos! Here’s what we loved the most about Lauren and Mike’s couples portraits and reception:

1 – Lauren and Mike used one of our Whimsy Packages to add just a little pop of personality into some of their couples portraits. We’ll send you a box of all kinds of fun whimsy props, and your photographer can use them as part of your engagement session or couples portraits on your wedding day – it’s a super fun, super easy way to add some fun into your photos.

2- It was really important to Lauren + Mike to host a celebration that people wanted to attend, not HAD to attend. And ya’ll – they did it. Just looking at their reception photos makes me want to be there – it was like a combination of a super hip street party + classy wedding reception. It was just a whole lot of yumminess – check out the reception photos. So bright and happy and fun! They hosted their reception at Little Kings Shuffle Club, and asked Madeline Adams, an amazing local Athens musician to play. So.awesome.

3 – Lauren and Mike partook in the Hora (aka wedding chair dance) and I am OBSESSED with the photos. Sooooooo amazing. Graham killed it!

4 – If sweet father/daughter moments get to you, prepare yourself.

5- Their wedding rings have their fingerprints imprinted on the inside. Love, love, love, love.

6- Lastly, Lauren and Mike snuck out with Graham one more time for some more couples portraits, and they are some of my favorite of the day!

xoxo

Lauren + Mike – Wedding::Part 1

Here at OLAS, we get to work with some of the coolest clients ever. Seriously. We’re consistently amazed at all of the creativity and style that you all bring to the table, but more than that, you all are just real people. You all seem to really have a grasp of what this wedding thing is all about, and we’re so grateful for that. Lauren and Mike are absolutely no exception. From the first time we met them, they were really clear on that fact that they wanted their event to be comfortable, and they wanted their guests to want to be there, not feel like they needed to be there. Let’s just say, Lauren and Mike, you can check that one off the list! Their reception looks like one of the most fun, warm, we-want-to-be-there-again kind of parties that we’ve seen…but more on that tomorrow. You may notice that this wedding is categorized under New England and Southeast, and there is a good reason for that. Graham, our photog phenom who is based in New England, traveled down to Athens, GA for Lauren and Mike’s wedding day. And are we glad he did. He was able to beautifully capture all of the love and joy that was so prevalent throughout the entire day. Lauren and Mike got married in the gorgeous Founders Garden on the campus of the University of Georgia, and we love the way they incorporated deep purples against all of the green of the garden. Perfection. Oh, and that flower girl is their niece, and one of the cutest we’ve EVER seen! This wedding is definitely a two-parter…so enjoy part 1 today! Couples shots and reception is headed your way soon. xoxo

Alexa + Demetrius – Wedding

Teachers hold a special place in all of our hearts (our team is made up of some former teachers!) , and so we all knew we were going to love Alexa and Demetrius from the moment we started working with them. Alexa and Demetrius are both teachers – she teaches elementary school and he teaches art, and we loved, loved, loved all of the ways they built their passions into their absolutely beautiful wedding day (read on for details!) Graham joined these lovebirds for their April wedding day in Boston at the beautiful Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, and we’ve all been swooning over their uber-bright, whimsical wedding day.  Alexa and Demetrius weren’t scared to use bright, bold colors through every detail of their big day…after all, he is an art teacher!  They used beautiful deep purples and bright greens and blues in everything from the wraps for the girls, to Alexa’s jewelry, to their reception and floral design.  Alexa and Demetrius actually invited all of her students to the wedding (which we LOVE) and included them as part of the recessional – they walked out down the aisle after the family did. We LOVE. And the desserts. Oh, the desserts. Check ‘em out, and take special notice of the AH-MAZE-ING cake topper – Demetrius made it himself! We KNOW! Killer.  Congrats Alexa and Demetrius – we’re so excited for you two, and are so blessed to have been a part of your big day!
