Victoria + Brent :: CA Wedding Part 2 :: Making The Most Out Of Your Couples Shots
Wondering what could possibly make this day better? We’d bargain that some unbelievably stunning couples shots could do the trick! If you’ve seen Victoria + Brent in their CA Wedding Part 1 (and if you haven’t, you should check it out now!), it’s definitely no secret that they are one handsome couple. I mean really, it’s almost unfair how good they look together! They are also such a great example of how to really make the most out of your couple’s portrait time on your wedding day, that we just had to share a few tips we noticed right off the bat from their shoot (and it’s not just about being beautiful to start with)!
1. Timing Is Everything: It’s no secret here at OLAS that we are absolutely OBSESSED with LIGHT. I think it could be pretty easily said that most of our very favorite photos are the ones with that warm, natural, golden hue you can only get from that special light right around sunrise and sunset. Victoria + Brent timed their ceremony perfectly to have the couples portion of their day fall right into this “golden hour” and IT SHOWS. Our National Director Of Client Relations, Britt (more widely and affectionately known as Bride’s Bestie Forever), will make sure to talk you through all of these kinds of details in your planning call!
2. Don’t Be Afraid To Be A Little Playful: Just have fun with it. How often do you get to have your photo taken together (by an amazing, amazing photographer we might add) where ALL the focus is on you two?? Sticking with yesterday’s trend –> Glam.It.Up! Throw petals, strike a pose or two, have fun together! The more you can have fun and just be yourselves, the better!
3. Focus On Eachother: One of the very best things about V + B’s couples shots below, is that they just seem genuinely and totally obsessed with each other.. well, because THEY ARE! Don’t let yourself worry about how you look or if you’re showing your best angle, etc., just relax and focus in on your new husband (OMG YOUR NEW HUSBAND!) and that will make all the difference :)
Victoria + Brent, thank you so much for asking us to be a part of your big day! We loved every second!

We don’t know about you guys, but we have been so blown away lately by how crazy gorgeous these weddings have been!! We shouldn’t ever expect anything less from our OLAS brides, but it’s like you just can’t stop WOW-ing us with your exquisite taste and fun ideas :) As I’m sure you would expect – Victoria + Brent’s California wedding (actually shot by our talented southeast photographer Carla) is no different! The very first thing we noticed about V + B’s wedding was how truly modern and glamorous it was. Here are a few tips on how to “luxe up” your wedding day:
1. Sparkle, sparkle, SPARKLE! As you’ll notice below, Victoria adds a lot of sparkly little details throughout her wedding day decor. She has bling in her headpiece (oh.that.headpiece!), added to her dress, on her bridal bouquet, attached to the white fabric on the backs of the chairs at the ceremony, bling is everywhere!
2. Use lots and lots of white: Victoria’s wedding is a vision in white. While she infuses subtle little accents of aqua and gold here and there (we here at OLAS sure love those aqua nails), the predominate use of white in her flowers and overall ceremony decor are what really pull the whole modern – glam feel together. Adding the big, beautiful, white flowers down the center aisle was a stunning touch as well.
3. Arrive to the ceremony in a Rolls Royce: Nuff said :)
4. Add special little details no one will be expecting… like a dove send off! We just love that Victoria + Brent decided to release white doves at the end of their ceremony as they were announced for the first time, as husband and wife. Talk about making the importance of the moment truly stand out above the rest –> so glam.
Be on the look out for part two of V + B’s modern and glam wedding tomorrow!! x’s & o’s!

Tracey + Efren::Engagement::California
When Tracey + Efren contacted us about shooting their November wedding in California, we were SUPER pumped. They were getting married at a really cool venue, and both just had a super-fun vibe about them. Not only were they high-school sweethearts (and dated for 13 years) but they were laid-back, and wanted photography that really all of the “in the moment-ness” of their wedding day. We knew it would be a great day…and it was! But we’re making you wait for their wedding pics…and are bringing you their AMAZING engagement photos today instead! Our absolutely killer Cali photog, Michael, headed out for an engagement session in June that included an amazingly diverse variety of backgrounds all across San Francisco….and it made for some AWESOME photos. Tracey, Efren, and Michael started with some really beautiful, bright, city graffiti – we’re seriously loving the pop of colors in this set! From there, it was time for a quick outfit change and some shots with some of the gorgeous city architecture, the skyline at dusk (oh.em.gee) and the lushness of a city park. And, of course, any amazing e-session ends with a food truck! Enjoy these gorgeous photos of precious Tracey + Efren, and stay tuned for their wedding photos soon!

If you missed Part 1 of Sydney + Chris’ gorgeous California wedding, head back over and check it out before you dive into Part 2. Today’s post is absolutely scrumptious, if we do say so ourselves. We start out with a series of absolutely magnificent couples portraits taken on the property at Strawberry Farms, where Sydney + Chris held their reception. Seriously, these two are just so beautiful, and we could have picked tons and tons more couples shots to show you, but we wanted to save room for their KILLER reception. After such an emotional ceremony, Sydney + Chris wanted to throw the party of the century, and they picked the perfect place to do it. The barn at Strawberry Farms was the absolutely perfect backdrop – we love the way they incorporated a whimsy feel into the whole reception…particularly loving the huge yellow tissue poms, the seating card display (ADORABLE), and the animal crackers at the kids table. Our favorite detail of all, however, was the surprise that Sydney + Chris organized for their guests….but you’ll have to scroll down to see that. From the very initial moment that we began shooting with Sydney + Chris, it was apparent that these two love deeply and live passionately, and their entire wedding day was such a showcase of that. Thanks you two, for letting us be a part of your big day! xoxo

Happy New Year, OLAS fam! We’re hopeful you took some time this holiday season to slow down, breathe, and rejuvenate for 2012…it’s gonna be a good one. We know we have to do our (once like a spark) family right, so we wanted to kick off the new year with you with Part 1 of this gorgeous, gorgeous California wedding. When Sydney and Chris first found (once like a spark), they told us they wanted classically beautiful photographs that would stand the test of time, with a little bit of whimsy thrown in. Check and check – that’s just what we do best! These two live in the Bay Area (where we shot their engagement session), but got married in Southern California. Our entire team loved getting to know Sydney and Chris – they’re a really, really laid back couple, and they talked a lot about how they were making their family, friends, and community the main focus of their wedding day. Sometimes brides getting married in a church ceremony will talk with us about their concern that they won’t love their photos from the ceremony as much as someone getting married outside….we think Sydney and Chris’ wedding is an amazing example of just how powerful these photos can be. The entire ceremony was rich with emotion and significance, and the result is just beautiful. Check out Part 1 of Sydney and Chris’ wedding below, and be sure not to miss the first kiss photo (so.many.cameras!) and the adorable flower girls and ring bearers. Come back for Part 2 tomorrow…KILLER couples shots and a big surprise at the reception!
