Editor’s Choice :: Nicole + Jesse’s Romantic Bayside Wedding at Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota, FL :: with Anna
Nicole + Jesse were married in mid-July at the stunning The Powel Crosley Estate in Sarasota, FL. The choice of venue was a particularly meaningful decision for this beautiful couple – they actually didn’t just have a wedding day, they had an amazing full wedding week at Anna Maria Island. Jesse grew up visiting his grandparents on Anna Maria Island. His dad, sister, aunt and uncle all now live on the island. Not only was it a special place for him to visit, but it became a very special place for N + J to visit as a couple. These two lovebirds love to travel and travel as often as they can, but Anna Maria Island remains their favorite destination. Nicole describes the island as small, quaint, laid-back and relaxing, which fits N + J’s personalities perfectly. Nicole’s sister Danielle happens to be an amazing wedding planner and she is the one responsible for all of the amazing, romantic details of N + J’s day (you might remember Danielle from when we shot her own beautiful wedding!). We are so eager to share with you the unbelievable shots that our amazing Southeast photographer Anna captured of N + J’s wedding, but we love this couple’s first (and second!!) date story so very much that we really have to share it first. Here it is, in Nicole’s words:
Jesse and I were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend named Rachel. She had wanted us to meet for a while and finally the timing was right. Jesse called me one night and we talked on the phone for a long time. He invited me to grab coffee the next day and picked me up from my house at 2:00 in the afternoon. I remember trying not to let a giant smile just explode on my face when I opened the door and met him for the first time. We went to a local coffee shop on the Marietta Square called Cool Beans. It was a beautiful afternoon, so we sat at some tables outside and talked for hours. There wasn’t a single lull in the conversation and I enjoyed hearing stories of his experiences in Spain and New Zealand. We both lost track of time until the sun started to set and Jesse realized that he was late for Thanksgiving dinner at his friend’s house down the street. He asked if he could grab a bag of ice on his way to drop me back off at my house. We said goodbye and 5 minutes later I got a phone call from him asking if I wanted to come to Thanksgiving dinner. I remember him saying that he typically wouldn’t do such a thing, but that his friends were standing right there, so he hoped that I would say yes. I accepted his invitation and he came back by my house again (a few streets down) to pick me up for dinner. We had the best time. I instantly fell in love with his friends and they made me feel so comfortable. Midnight came, the dishes were washed, and we sat on the sofa talking to Tyler and Christie. They asked how we met. I laughed and told them that we met on a blind date at 2:00 that afternoon. November 23, 2011 was our first date. If you ask Jesse, it was our first and second date. Maybe that’s why he wasn’t too shy about kissing me when he brought me home (for the second time) that night. We’ve been together ever since.
Nicole + Jesse, we love you guys so very much and we are so grateful to have been a part of your beautiful wedding! xoxo

We’ve said this before, and we’ll say it again: we love that weddings are not one-size-fits-all. It’s sometimes easy to forget that at the heart of it, a wedding is an incredibly intimate ceremony binding one life to another in a crazy powerful way. Sometimes the weddings that shine the most are the ones that break with traditional or vogue and where the couple does thing in precisely their own way to make the day their own. Corrie + Matt made the day their own with an alternative timeline featuring a gorgeous, understated morning ceremony surrounded by a small gathering of the couple’s closest family and friends at a private home in Greenville, followed by a break in the day, and a late afternoon reception at the Peace Center for Performing Arts. Our Southeast photographer Paige was there to capture key parts of the C+ M’s beautiful day. With her distinct, finespun style and immaculate attention to detail, Paige’s stunning photos from C + M’s wedding seem to whisper to us a beautiful tale of love and laughter. Corrie + Matt, it was such an honor and a joy to be a part of your wedding day, and we so admire you both for making the day a tribute to your love and commitment to each other. xoxo
Happy Friday lovelies! It’s been a rainy start for many of us here in the southeast, but we’ve got just the thing to help turn your Friday back around — a sweet & sunny farm wedding sneak peek! Stephanie & Ed have been together for a few years, but the majority of them have been spent long distance (and when we say long distance, we MEAN long distance – between Ghana and Georgia!!). Though Stephanie’s time in the Peace Corps was admittedly difficult for them, S + E always reference the most wonderful quote when describing that period of time in their lives (and it immediately made us completely fall in love with the both of them): “Distance between two hearts is not an obstacle but rather a beautiful reminder of just how strong true love can be.” Love like that is what weddings are all about folks. S + E’s wedding ceremony and reception were at The Densmore Farm, a stunningly rustic location and the perfect nod to their mutual love of the outdoors. Much of their decor focused on their second love, their love of travel: save the date postcards, an antique globe for a guestbook, hankercheifs made in Ghana as a gift for the guests to use during the ceremony, and that adorable print made for Ed that reads “I love you from here to Ghana” with the names of places that are special to the two of them printed on it. They incorporated so many unique details that truly personalized their wedding, and Tyler (our southeast photographer phenom) captured all of it so beautifully. From the diamond in the ring S’s Dad gave her Mom on their 25th wedding anniversary, now used in her own ring, to the sweet jars of jam made by E’s Mom as favors, their wedding was truly “their own”, in every single way. S + E, it was an absolute honor for us to get to be a part of your wedding day, and we hope you absolutely love your sneak peek! We can’t wait to share the rest with you super soon, xoxo!

We are beside ourselves with excitement to share this sneak peek of Alexis + Tim’s absolutely phenomenal wedding at the legendary Red Rocks outside of Denver, CO. Musicophiles will deeply appreciate the sheer awesomeness of getting married at Red Rocks, but everyone, regardless of whether or not you are familiar with Red Rocks as a concert venue, will be blown away by the staggering beauty of this location. Our Colorado photographer extraordinaire, Talia, worked her usual magic and captured unbelievably gorgeous, emotional images that have just left us drooling. High fives all around, Talia. So how do you pull off a wedding set in a place like Red Rocks? Our theory about incredible venues is this: when your starting point is breathtaking natural beauty, it’s best not to compete with that, but instead to choose color palettes and details that complement it. Alexis + Tim complemented the natural beauty of Red Rocks perfectly with soft yellow tones, and gorgeous bouquets of wildflowers. There is something else about this wedding, besides how jaw-droppingly gorgeous it is, that really speaks to us: every single minute seems to be positively overflowing with happiness and elation. After seeing these photos, don’t you just want to go hang out with A + T? A + T, what an honor it was for us to be a part of your incredible day. We are so excited to share all of the photos with you soon, and without further adieu, here is your sneak peek!

Meet Jenny + Jeff. J + J are an inspiring and beautiful couple who are planning a May wedding at one of our favorite venues, Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley. Michael, from our San Francisco team, met up with these two to capture some seriously gorgeous, bright, and colorful engagement photos in the quaint city of Capitola. J + J met in 2008 while they were both students at Harvard, and the story starts off kind of like this: a girl walks into a bar. Just kidding, buuuuut really. So these two might have met at a bar, but their story turns super romantic quite quickly – 2 months after their first serendipitous meeting, J + J traveled together to Italy, where they realized how perfect they were for each other. In 2011, these two moved to California, and Jeff proposed to Jenny on their 5 year anniversary during a romantic weekend escape to Sea Ranch (so dreamy!). We are beyond excited to shoot their upcoming wedding, and they have some awesome stuff planned. One of our favorite ideas we’ve heard yet is replacing the traditional guestbook with a gratitude jar, where guests will write down things they are grateful for and drop them in a jar. J + J keep their own gratitude jar at home, and we love this idea so much, we might just have to adopt it for ourselves! J + J, it has been so lovely getting to know the two of you, and we absolutely cannot wait to see you again for your big day! xoxo
