A Royal OLAS Wedding (or three!)
One would imagine that the ratio of women that read wedding blogs in proportion to women that are all aflutter over the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Princess Kate is roughly, oh, 1:1. I must say, although I did not get up at 3:00am to watch the royal “I Dos,” I did turn on the Today show as soon as I woke up to watch highlights. Oh, and I’m also attending a tea party tomorrow morning at my friend Alex’s flat (cue: planned British reference!) to watch a TiVo-ed showing of Will and Kate’s big day. I shall be wearing this regal number from Anthropologie, in, quite fittingly, royal blue (as a side note, it’s called royal blue because it was the color traditionally worn to welcome a new King to his throne.) Pretty, no?
I thought Kate’s dress was BEYOND stunning, and when you could see Will mouth “You look beautiful” to Kate, I definitely teared up. And Kate’s sister Pippa’s dress….let’s just say I must find and buy a replica immediately. While watching the royal wedding highlights, I was reminded of a few of our own OLAS weddings that, although not as highly publicized as dear Will + Kate’s, were certainly royally elegant, grand, and just plan beautiful.
Grace + Kevin’s regal New England wedding was reminiscent of a royal wedding during the time of Queen Victoria, and included a horse drawn carriage, a venue that surely belongs on the grounds of Buckingham Palace, and a beautiful bride and groom who truly embody grace and elegance.
This precious little lady was clearly excited about Grace + Kevin’s I-Dos, unlike this little one from Will + Kate’s wedding, who was less than thrilled Laura + Alan’s New England wedding seems to me more like what Will + Kate would have planned if they were not expected to wed at Buckingham Palace…indeed, Will + Kate even left the Queen’s luncheon today in his Aston Martin, just as Laura + Alan waved to family and friends as they drove away in this vintage Chevy. And what royal wedding would be complete without a round of croquet and a cocktail?
Even the Duke of Maine showed up for the occasion!
Laura was way ahead of the trend with her beautiful fascinator veil, also made popular by the new Duchess of Cambridge (aka Princess Kate.) It just looks so beautiful and elegant, and lucky for everyone else, they’re now popular for wearing out to a high tea or a few drinks with your closest girlfriends Lauren + Paddy’s Atlanta wedding is so regal, I even think Lauren looks like Princess Kate! And what says royalty better than silhouettes?
Am I right? Don’t they look alike? So, so gorgeous! Um. This picture is so royal wedding I can’t even stand it. I bet that Kate + Will had a little fun with their wedding pictures, especially if Prince Harry has anything to do with it…
…There’s even word that Harry has planned a “Survivor’s Breakfast” for the guests left standing! How….charming I wonder if Kate and Lauren’s happy “I’m getting married!” dance was similar. I bet they were. And a fairy tale send of OLAS style that I just adore Happy Royal Wedding Day, OLAS poppets!! xoxo
